Our family-owned business is expanding and looking to hire a full time, experienced Bookkeeper to assist in managing day-to-day accounting and finance requirements for our business clientele. Confidentiality, excellent organizational skills and accuracy are important qualifications for this position, as well as good customer relations and the ability to communicate clearly. The ideal candidate for this position is a skilled multi-tasker, is reliable, stable and is committed to consistently meeting deadlines.
Responsibilities:
- Records client and transactions to a general ledger using computer software such as Thompson Reuters, Quickbooks and Sage.
- Reconcile bank accounts and trace discrepancies.
- Reconcile general ledger accounts at year-end.
- Prepares financial statements accurately and timely using a computer program.
- Prepare 1099 reports as needed.
- Handles daily accounting mail, including payroll tax and sales tax notices.
- Assists in preparation and mailing of confirmation requests.
- Prepares other schedules, account analyses, and worksheets as requested by professional accounting staff.
- Under supervision, assist in routine aspects of engagements.
Requirements:
- Associate's Degree in Accounting.
- Proven tax and accounting experience. We will provide additional training to the right individual.
- Prepare Taxes: 1040, 1065, 1120, 1120s.
- Solid understanding of basic bookkeeping and accounting payable/receivable principles.
- Advanced user experience with a variety of bookkeeping software such as Quickbooks and Peachtree.
- High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to perform several tasks concurrently.
- Basic understanding of computer/calculator and various other office equipment.
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements of processing payroll accounting transactions and payroll returns.
- Knowledge of how to prepare sales tax returns.
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
- Occasional overtime hours may be required throughout the year. Heavy overtime work will be required from January to April 15; maybe in excess of 50 hours per week.
