Job Summary:
A Shipyard Safety Engineer ensures personnel and facility safety by identifying and correcting potential hazards. The work schedule is Monday through Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Weekends and overtime will be assigned as needed.

What you’ll do:
- Implement and evaluate programs and procedures to ensure personnel and facility safety.
- Monitor and control the company's safety/environmental standards while following OSHA and state regulations.
- Assist with management and tracking of worker injury claims.
- Investigate industrial accidents to minimize recurrence.
- Tour facilities; to identify and correct potential hazards; and to ensure compliance with safety/environmental regulations.
- Coordinate and conduct safety training to educate workers about safety policies.
- Take after-hours calls as assigned.
- Maintain and update environmental permits, plans, and facility manuals.
- Collect and analyze environmental data.
- Review environmental regulations and determine applicability.
- Maintain air permit systems to ensure compliance with permits.
What you’ll need:
- Bachelor's degree from a four-year University; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Clear written and verbal communications.
- Ability to organize and write procedures in a logical/methodical manner.
- Good time management skills.
- Able to maintain confidential information.
- Able to respond to, interact and collaborate with customers, vendors/suppliers and employees.
- Attention to detail, with a high level of accuracy.
- Self-starter, able to work independently and as a team member.
