JOB SUMMARY
The position involves assisting the Division Manager in providing leadership necessary to implement policies and plans as defined by the County officials. Work involves the supervision and motivation of division personnel; assisting in the planning, coordinating, and management of operations of the Division; and training division personnel.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Assists the Manager in the day-to-day operations of the Division.
- Provides direct supervision to all division staff and ensures all orders, policies and procedures are followed.
- Assigns and reviews the work of division staff, gives direction, and resolves problems.
- Assists the Manager in selecting division staff members by participating in selection interviews.
- Assists the Manager in developing and implementing goals, objectives, priorities, policies, and procedures for the Division.
- Prepares annual budget estimates; justifies expenditures.
- Maintains records and prepares reports.
- Performs related additional duties as required and assigned.
For Fleet Services
- Acts as Fleet Services Manager in his/her absence.
- Identifies training needs and supervises all shop operations and training of division personnel.
- Directs the overall customer service and follow-up on internal quality assurance alerts, driver complaints or concerns regarding any County owned vehicle or piece of equipment.
- Ensures that the Fleet Services automotive shop is always operated in a clean and safe manner per OSHA Compliant Safety Plans.
- Approves minor purchases, checking specifications, source of supply and availability of funds.
- Provides technical and mechanical assistance, direction and instruction to other department personnel.
- Reviews completed work to ensure quality control and safety concerns are resolved.
