Job Details
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Permanent Associate Attorney to join our dynamic legal team. This position offers an excellent opportunity to work on complex litigation, bankruptcy litigation, and commercial litigation matters. The successful candidate will work closely with our team of experienced attorneys and will play a key role in all stages of litigation, including drafting pleadings, discovery, motion practice, trials, and appeals.
Responsibilities
- Represent clients in court or before government agencies, presenting evidence to defend clients or prosecute defendants in criminal or civil litigation.
- Select jurors, argue motions, meet with judges and question witnesses during the course of a trial.
- Study Constitution, statutes, decisions, regulations, and ordinances of quasi-judicial bodies to determine ramifications for cases.
- Interpret laws, rulings, and regulations for individuals and businesses.
- Prepare and draft legal documents, such as wills, deeds, patent applications, mortgages, leases, and contracts.
- Prepare legal briefs and opinions, and file appeals in state and federal courts of appeal.
- Negotiate settlements of civil disputes.
- Supervise legal assistants and paralegals.
- Perform administrative and management functions related to the practice of law.
- Act as agent, trustee, guardian, or executor for businesses or individuals.
- Prosecute and defend actions in bankruptcy cases.
- Confer with colleagues on matters of mutual concern and transactions of corporations to ensure adherence to law and company policy.
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
- Admission to the state bar (or eligibility to obtain admission promptly).
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in litigation, bankruptcy litigation, and commercial litigation.
- Exceptional analytical skills, with a strong ability to draft and review legal documents, analyze legal advice and apply legal principles.
- Excellent communication skills, both orally and in writing, with a keen eye for detail.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
- Strong negotiation, research, and trial advocacy skills.
- Proficient understanding of state and federal laws, court procedures, precedents, government regulations, executive orders, agency rules, and the democratic political process.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to develop relationships with clients, witnesses, court personnel, and other professionals.
- Ability to exercise good judgement and discretion.
- Strong commitment to professional ethics.
