POSITION SUMMARY
The Mental Health Associate (Full-Time Group Counselor) is responsible for facilitating group services within an assigned program at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center (JHBMC). The MHA is expected to conduct an average of five groups per day, along with completing documentation and billing for all services rendered. Group topics may include—but are not limited to—psychoeducation, self-esteem, relapse prevention, substance use education, managing violent relationships, and other relevant psychotherapy content. The MHA is also required to participate in weekly individual supervision to support professional development and clinical growth.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
A. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Completion of two years of occupationally specific education or an Associate’s degree in mental health, psychology, or a closely related field
At least one year of previous experience in a behavioral health setting
No certification, registration, or licensure required
Basic analytical skills necessary to solve problems using foundational scientific, mathematical, or technical principles
Strong interpersonal and communication skills to exchange information, schedule appointments, greet visitors, explain policies, and relay messages; must demonstrate courtesy and professionalism when interacting with patients, visitors, and staff; more complex or sensitive matters should be referred to the appropriate personnel
B. Required Physical, Mental, and Visual Abilities
Occasional reaching and grasping of objects
Occasional use of a keyboard to interact with computer systems
Ability to proofread and review clinical documentation and other written materials
Salary Range: Minimum 17.82/hour - Maximum 29.43/hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility.
In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
