TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: 10 Months
REPORTS TO: Principal
JOB GOALS: The primary purpose of this position is to provide and coordinate career development services to students in local schools and school systems. The Career Development Coordinator’s (CDC) role is to support Career and Technical Education (CTE) and to coordinate career development services for students participating in CTE. The CDC works collaboratively with administrators, student services personnel, and teachers to ensure the delivery of career development services and ensure the success of students in a high wage, high-skill, and/or a high-demand careers in a global economy. CDCs facilitate linkages with parents, business/industry, postsecondary institutions, and community organizations to support students’ transition to postsecondary education and employment.
QUALIFICATIONS & ATTRIBUTES:
- Eligible to obtain the Career Development Coordinator (CDC) license 747.
(Requirements to obtain the 747 license)
- Successful Teaching Experience (minimum of 5 years preferred).
- Knowledge of Career & Technical Education &/or School Counseling.
- Experience working in Career & Technical Education &/or School or Career Counseling.
- Strong interpersonal relationships with students, staff and parents.
- Strong communication (written and oral), organization and time management skills.
- Knowledge of innovative, and research-based practices to improve student achievement.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Coordinates CTE State Assessments and assists with concentrator identification for WorkKeys Assessments.
- Coordinates career development services for students including career awareness, exploration, and planning.
- Facilitates career development events including career fairs, college fairs, guest speakers, and activities for students to develop employability skills.
- Provides career development, occupational, labor market, non-traditional career and postsecondary data to stakeholders.
- Facilitates work-based learning opportunities to include field trips, job shadowing, internships, and apprenticeships.
- Serves as a liaison to facilitate business, education, community, and military partnerships that provide opportunities for students and support CTE.
- Assists the CTE Director and local school system teachers in marketing CTE student organizations.
- Develops and compiles a variety of records and reports.
- Coordinates with stakeholders to promote recruitment, enrollment, and placement activities for students in CTE.
- Provides information about CTE opportunities to students and their parents.
- Treats all students in a fair and equitable manner. Interacts effectively with students, co-workers, parents, and the community.
- Participates in professional development activities at the local, regional, state, and national levels to remain current with trends, demand, and emerging careers in a rapidly changing workforce.
- Networks with Special Population Coordinators and Career Development Coordinators in the LEA, region, and state.
- Adheres to established laws, policies, rules and regulations.
- Performs other related work as required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be able to physically perform the basic life operational functions of fingering, grasping, kneeling, sitting, walking, stooping, reaching, lifting, pushing, talking, seeing hearing, & repetitive motion.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must possess a valid North Carolina driver’s license.
