The Johnston County Public Health Department has a full-time Environmental Health Specialist position open in the Onsite Wastewater & Well Programs.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Individuals needed to perform on-site evaluation for determining adequacy, application, permitting and post-inspection for commercial, residential and industrial on-site wastewater disposal systems, private drinking water supplies, water sampling, consultation, investigation of public health problems. Education and consultation of the aforementioned to the public will be needed on a consistent basis.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
(1) Graduation from a four-year college or university with 30 semester hours of course work in the physical or biological sciences and two years of experience in environmental health; or(2) A four year or Master's degree in environmental health from a program which is accredited by the National Accreditation Council for Environmental Health Curricula of the National Environmental Health Association and one year of experience in environmental health. Bachelor’s degree or postgraduate degree from a program that is accredited by the National Environmental Health Science and Protection Accreditation Council (EHAC); or, Bachelor’s degree or postgraduate degree in public health and one year of experience in the field of environmental health practice; or Bachelor’s degree or postgraduate degree with a minimum of 30 semester hours or 45 quarter hours in the physical, biological, natural, life, or health sciences and one year of experience in the field of environmental health practice. License or Certification Required – Must be eligible to meet the requirements for registration or license as an Environmental Health Specialist as outlined in Article 4, Chapter 90A of the NC General Statutes.Additional Information: Applications will be accepted until the position is filled.
