- REPORTING RELATIONSHIP
- Reports to the Director – Supply Chain Management
- PURPOSE
- Function
- The function of the Production Control Manger is to provide forecasts, schedule systems and controls to assist JCSNA in satisfying customer requirements.
- Control engineering changes, start up and phase out programs, obsolescence, inventory levels and accurate customer requirements.
- Direct the shipping, receiving and storage areas to efficiently achieve the above manufacturing goals.
- Authority
- To set departmental policy and goals to meet the requirements of JCSNA.
- DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide current and correct projected forecast to allow plant to satisfy customer requirements.
- Coordinates engineering changes, start ups releases and phase-outs with sales and engineering.
- Provide department with necessary schedules to function and meet the forecasts.
- Follow up on production control mapics systems requirements to make sure they are being done and make adjustments to the system as required.
- Maintains specified inventory levels and keeps accurate records.
- Establishes and meets departmental budget.
- Review and approve all excess freight charges.
- Communicate with customers on schedule and shipping information.
- Has responsibility for establishing and maintaining the Kan Ban system.
- Has responsibility for packaging on all current and new programs.
- Responsible for establishing most cost effective trucking/freight system.
- Responsible for all shipping and receiving activities.
- Responsible for all purchasing functions after supplier has been established.
- Responsible for negotiating all charge-backs to suppliers.
- Responsible for contacting our suppliers’ management, when problems occur that warrants this action.
- Responsible for establishing and monitoring activities required for sample packaging and other samples required with our suppliers.
- Responsible for managing all outside warehousing operations.
- Other duties as assigned.
- MEASUREMENTS/COMPETENCIES
- Customer satisfaction.
- Inventory levels to plan.
- Accuracy of production forecasting.
- Timely supply of raw materials and MRO items.
- Communication of production requirements.
- Freight as % of standard material.
- Effective packaging programs.
- Effective Kan Ban systems.
- Inventory accuracy.
- Shipping discrepancies.

- QUALIFICATIONS
- Prior computer experience using MAPICS and other inventory management software, including EDI and materials releasing systems and AS400.
- College degree in Production Management or equivalent.
- Minimum of 5 years experience in production control management.
- Ability to direct and oversee the activities of department employees.
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
- Excellent math aptitude.
- Minimum 5 years experience in implementing, scheduling and inventory control systems.
- Experience in managing traffic functions/shipping/receiving/truck lines, etc.
- Ability to effectively communicate with suppliers and customers.
- Purchasing experience a plus.
- Bar coding and LOT control systems experience desired.
- Familiar with bill of materials and routings.
- JIT (Just-in-time) inventory control system experience desired.
- APICS certification a plus but not mandatory.
- Kan Ban system knowledge is necessary.
- SUPERVISOR RESPONSIBILITY
- Direct Relationships
- Manages the Materials Supervisor, Shipping and Receiving Supervisor, salary members of the Production Control Department, Material Handlers and Shipping and Receiving Associates as assigned.
- Indirect Relationships
- Will interface with customers, Engineering, Sales, Purchasing, Finance, Quality, Human Resources, industrial relations, local community officials, and technical and trade organizations.
- WORK ENVIRONMENT
This job operates in a professional environment, as well as a manufacturing environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment. This role also is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

- The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
- This position requires the incumbent to stand, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl occasionally and regularly requires walking, sitting, talking, and using hands to finger, handle or feel. The employee may occasionally lift, unassisted, up to 32 pounds. The employee will be required to use a computer for extended periods of time and talk on the phone. Specific vision abilities required by this job are close, distance, color and peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
9 POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK
This is a full-time position. Typical days and hours of work are Monday through Friday. This position may require extended hours and possible weekend work.
10 TRAVEL
Travel to vendor and customer worksites may be required.

Salary : $60,000 - $80,000
