The Land Survey Drafter assists the project team by performing office and CAD-related activities under the direction and guidance of the Registered Professional Land Surveyor and/or Project Manager.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities
- Download and process field data in MicroStation and/or in AutoCAD Civil 3D.
- Interpret and plot record deeds and plats for all types of land surveying projects.
- Complete thorough research for every project to ensure all significant factors affecting the area (boundary lines, right-of-way lines, easements, etc.) are labeled appropriately.
- Prepare all types of surveying plats and exhibit drawings utilizing research and the information gathered in the field.
- Interpret and address title commitment items per ALTA/NSPS requirements.
- Perform stakeout calculations.
- Prepare documents including, but not limited to: Topographic maps, ALTA surveys, Boundary surveys, etc.
- Duties will primarily be office related but may require occasional field work associated with all facets of surveying including, but not limited to, topographic mapping, control surveying, and construction layout.
- May perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Communication skills.
- Detailed-oriented.
- Knowledge of surveying laws and state standards for boundary analysis and computations.
- Knowledge of survey data processing.
- Knowledge of surveying equipment preferred but not required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft office and Google Earth.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Exhibit a positive, energetic, and cooperative attitude.
- Must be able to work weekends, if needed, to complete work.
Minimum Qualifications
· Graduation from high school or evidence of equivalent educational proficiency.
· Associate degree (or higher) in Surveying/Geomatics or Computer Aided Drafting (CAD). Students currently working on their degree are encouraged to apply.
· AutoCAD and Civil 3D
· Valid driver’s license
