Assistant Shop Services Foreman

Kansas Municipal Energy Agency (KMEA) is recruiting for an Assistant Shop Services Foreman. The position will assist with fabrication of steel and control panels, welding, cutting and painting activities. The employee in this position is responsible for exercising judgment as to the details of assigned work within prescribed operating procedures. Work is performed according to departmental procedures, practices, and safety regulations.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

· Position may receive after-hour calls.

· Responsible for fabrication of steel and control panels.

· Oversees and manages shop operations.

· Responsible for shop related services including welding, cutting and painting activities.

· Responsible for vehicle maintenance for the Engineering & Field Services fleet.

· Assists with tool and equipment maintenance.

· Responsible for other related shop services as required.

· Works as an effective team member, working cooperatively with others and contributing to our overall goals and member experience.

· Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED with 3-5 years in the field or in a related area, or suitable combination of education and relevant experience considered.

Extensive knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within the energy business, specifically, with standard practices, materials, tools and equipment used in the electric trade;

Equipment/Tools Used:

Equipment: bobcat, excavator, genie lift, pickup, trailers, backhoe, air compressors, wire puller, wire stands and lights.

Power Tools: Hydraulic crimper & tamper, circular saw, grinder, phasing sticks, chop saw, concrete saw, earth packer, jackhammer, cordless drill, electric drill, air compressors, bandsaw, shear, copper bender, paint gun, hydraulic punch and pipe threader.

Manual Tools: Shovels, screwdrivers, chain hoist, hammer, hardline, nut drivers, rope blocks, hot sticks, shotgun hot sticks, crimpers, wirecutters, grips, cant hook, cable slings, channel locks, crescent wrenches, proto set, ladders, tape measure, lineman pliers, saws, tree loppers, climbing gear, knockout cutter, knives, conduit bender, and knockout set.

Other equipment, power tools, and manual tools as required.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $24.20 - $38.50 per hour
