Key Responsibilities for the Director of Financial Reporting and Technical Accounting :
- Financial Statement Oversight: Lead the preparation of consolidated monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and financial statement packages for both internal and external reporting, including the calculation of debt covenant metrics.
- Compliance & Standards: Ensure that all financial reports reflect the latest accounting standards. Stay current with and support the implementation of new accounting standards, and ensure accurate accounting for transactions. Conduct technical accounting research, draft technical accounting memos, and interpret contracts to determine proper accounting practices.
- Audit Collaboration: Work closely with external auditors, third-party valuation firms, and other stakeholders. Prepare financial statements, footnote disclosures, legal updates, and valuations. Organize and review supporting documentation for audits, and implement recommendations resulting from audit findings.
- Special Projects & Analysis: Lead and coordinate special projects, ad-hoc reports, analyses, and reconciliations as needed, providing strategic financial insights and solutions.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with business unit leaders and department heads, utilizing financial reporting, analysis, and budgeting to drive positive change and improve performance across the organization.
- Budgeting & Forecasting: Lead the annual budgeting and monthly forecasting processes, ensuring accuracy and alignment with the company’s strategic goals.
- Financial Modeling: Develop financial models to support business decisions, including revenue forecasting, expense management, and capital investment analysis.
- Performance Analysis: Analyze financial performance and prepare reports on key metrics to support strategic initiatives. Analyze business unit trends related to revenue and costs, and develop tools for cost control and labor forecasting.
- Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance required, MBA or CPA highly preferred but not required
- 6 years of combined experience, ideally a mix of public accounting and private industry or relevent public/private company experience
- Experience with the implementation of ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, SAGE, etc) and financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting software.
- Ability to partner with C Suite and leadership team on explaining financials, internal controls and overall financial integrity of the organization
- Proven ability to create process improvements in technical accounting and reporting under GAAP guidelines
