Overview
OMNI is honored to be retained by KC Mothers in Charge in their search for a Managing Director. This position is responsible for managing agency operations, as well as driving fundraising and outreach within the community. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Managing Director leads a team including the organization founder and other staff to achieve the organization’s mission and objectives.
KC Mothers in Charge works to create a safe community for all by reducing violent crime through prevention, education, and intervention. It was founded in 2012 as a program of Kansas City’s Ad Hoc Group Against Crime, and after receiving funding from the Kansas City, Missouri Police Department, expanded to become its own non-profit in 2015. The organization offers a variety of services and programs centered around victim and family services, offender reintegration and recidivism reduction, and community outreach and education.
Responsibilities
- Embrace the mission, vision and values of KC Mothers in Charge and inspire others to use their skills, abilities, and connections to help further the mission.
- Provide leadership and direction for all strategic and operational planning, programs, and fundraising initiatives to amplify the organization's impact.
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the organization.
- Ensure fiscal responsibility including reporting, compliance, and budget management.
- Direct and manage the organization’s fund developing efforts, including creating and executing a Fund Development Plan, and effectively utilizing the Board, staff, and volunteers in support of these efforts.
- Increase organization visibility through the development and implementation of a comprehensive marketing and communications plan; serve as the spokesperson for the organization in coordination with the founder.
- Work closely with the Board of Directors to achieve the strategic goals of the organization.
- Promote a culture of collaboration and teamwork that helps staff and volunteers excel.
Qualifications
- Five years of progressive experience in non-profit leadership and management, with demonstrated success in managing operations, leading teams, marketing, and fundraising.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
- Proven ability to build strong external relationships with funders, donors, volunteers, public officials, and partner organizations.
- Track record of success in strategic planning, grant management, financial management, fund development and marketing; actual grant-writing skills strongly preferred.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the capacity to work in close collaboration with the founder.
- Knowledge and experience in working with diverse communities of the Kansas City area.
- A commitment to social justice and advocating for non-violence in our community.
