QUALIFICATIONS:
To successfully perform this position, a person must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. - Minimum of 3 years of experience in payroll processing, with demonstrated proficiency in computerized payroll systems; experience in a public school or educational setting is preferred.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage and maintain large volumes of data and documentation with accuracy and attention to detail.
- Experience with CSIU financial software is strongly preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data management tools.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally and effectively with a diverse range of individuals.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date payroll records for all employees; ensure timely entry of changes in compliance with applicable policies, contracts, and authorizations.
- Prepare and process bi-weekly payroll for approximately 400 employees, including data collection, entry, verification, balancing, and generation of direct deposits, checks, and reports.
- Identify and resolve discrepancies in source documents; investigate and correct out-of-balance conditions.
- Set up and manage all payroll deductions, including voluntary and involuntary deductions (e.g., wage garnishments, tax levies), ensuring compliance with legal and contractual requirements.
- Prepare and submit local, state, and federal payroll tax filings, ensuring timely and accurate reporting and payments.
- Complete year-end payroll responsibilities, including the generation and distribution of W-2 forms and preparation of all required reports and reconciliations.
- Administer the district’s Section 125 Plan in collaboration with the Chief Financial Officer.
- Coordinate and manage PSERS (Public School Employees’ Retirement System) reporting, monthly submissions, and Purchase of Service tracking.
- Develop, update, and communicate payroll calendars and payment schedules.
- Reconcile and process payments for employee benefits such as Life and Long-Term Disability insurance; submit census data as required by vendors.
- Collaborate with Human Resources staff to ensure alignment and accuracy of payroll and personnel data.
- Perform other duties as assigned in support of the Business Office and district operations.
