What are the responsibilities and job description for the Aquatics Instructional Coordinator position at Kentwood Public Schools?
- Coordinate and schedule paid instructional programming at KAC
- Provide training and maintain consistency of the instructional staff
- Schedule and organize instructor in-service training
- Track participation and attendance for mandatory training
- Track the certifications for all instructors
- Schedule relevant paid programs in Team Up
- Audit program attendance records for instructor compliance
- Inform Manager of AQ Ops of needs for hiring new instructors
- Coordinate pool use for KIDS aquatics programs, and assist coordinators of those programs
- Fill-in as the pool manager on duty for an average of 25 hours per week
- Perform opening and closing responsibilities of the pool as necessary
- Process membership applications, locker rentals, class fees as needed
- Maintain consistency and standards of lifeguarding and instructional staff
- Report work orders or other facility concerns to Manager of AQ Ops
- Alert appropriate parties to abnormal pool chemicals or mechanical malfunction
- Knowledge of customer service standards and procedures, and maintain a high level of customer service
- Able to follow routine verbal and written instructions and follow all KAC Standard Operating Procedures
- Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned
- Ability to pass a pre-employment swim skills test in the water
- Ability to work on early mornings, evenings and/or weekends
- Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations
- Ability to accurately prepare routine administrative paperwork
- Excellent customer service skills
- American Red Cross Lifeguarding certification is required to apply
- 2 years consecutive instructional experience
- Water Safety Instructor (WSI) and Lifeguard Instructor (LGI) preferred
- CPT or CPO (certified pool tech or operator) recommended, but not required.
- High School diploma and two years of work experience in an aquatic center required.
- American Red Cross swim lessons
- Water Aerobics classes
- Private swim lessons (WSI or USA certified)
- Or other future programs that are created and paid for by patrons of the aquatic center

Position Purpose: Full time pool manager that ensures consistency and compliance within the instructional staff. Acts as a pool manager and performs all the relevant duties when on the schedule as such. Provides leadership as a part of the management team, and displays excellent customer service.
