What are the responsibilities and job description for the Corporate Counsel position at Keurig Dr Pepper?
Keurig Dr Pepper (KDP) is seeking a strategic, agile and proactive Labor & Employment attorney to join our Legal Department. This role will focus primarily on advising business leaders and human resources on employment matters, including performance management and discipline, leaves of absence and accommodation and proactive compliance with state and federal workplace laws.
The position will report to the VP & Assistant General Counsel that oversees all Labor & Employment legal matters and requires collaboration with various functions throughout the company, as well as management and oversight of outside counsel. The role will provide ample opportunities to learn, be challenged and grow professionally in a fast-paced environment.
What you will do:
- Counsel HR and business leaders on employment related issues for field and corporate employees including leaves of absences, discipline and terminations, reasonable accommodations, restrictive covenants, separation agreements, corporate reorganizations, employee relations issues, wage and hour compliance, contingent worker issues, and EEO and diversity matters
- Lead and/or provide legal support for internal investigations
- Partner with Labor Relations Team on matters impacting employees covered by a collective bargaining agreement
- Develop strong relationships with business partners and work strategically with KDP’s teams to reach company’s goals; have regular and significant interaction with key functional areas including human resources, security and other business unit leaders
- Collaborate efficiently and effectively across legal and business functions in a manner that adds value, balances risk, and protects the company’s reputation
- Participate as the legal representative on various cross-functional projects and initiatives, and work collaboratively with key functional groups within KDP
Requirements
- Juris Doctor from accredited institution, and active member of at least one state bar
- 5-7 years of law firm or in-house corporate legal department experience, in-house corporate legal department experience strongly preferred
- Knowledge of state and federal laws/regulations related to employment law issues (Title VII, ADEA, ADA, FLSA, FMLA), and NLRA
- Broad expertise with the legal issues pertaining to employment claims including wage and hour, discrimination, retaliation, FMLA, and restrictive covenant agreements
- Able to work in a fast-paced organization; manage and prioritize multiple issues and projects while being highly responsive
- Excellent judgment in knowing how to proactively communicate, escalate issues and propose solutions
