Capital Area Head Start is seeking full time Site Support Specialists to join our mission in providing a comprehensive child development program designed to give children a head start in life, empowering parents and strengthening families. The Site Support Specialist assists the Center Director in providing quality early childhood development services. This position collaborates with the team to provide a framework of best practice for the program through curriculum, approach, environment, supervision and staff development. The Site Support Specialist provides training, technical assistance and resources for staff, tracks and monitors program data, assists center director in identifying and addressing concerns, develops relationships with community partners, and ensures continuity of services for children ages 0 to 5.

Position Details:

  • $16.66 per hour, may increase based on education and/or experience
  • Salaried, Non Exempt position: Standard biweekly salary paid throughout the entire year, including summer months
  • Work hours between 7:30AM and 4:30PM based on assigned center; Schedule is based on the school year and does not require work during the summer months
  • Local travel throughout assigned location(s) may be required

Minimum Requirements:

  • Associate’s degree in early childhood education, social work or related field with at least 18 credits in early childhood education or valid PA, N/K teaching certification
  • Experience working with young children in an education, preschool or other highly related setting
  • Demonstrated knowledge of early childhood development and developmentally appropriate practices
  • Intermediate computer skills, ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and learn web based systems
  • Valid driver’s license and access to properly insured vehicle, or public transportation
  • Successful completion of pre-employment process, including Criminal History, MVR, Child Abuse and FBI clearances

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in early childhood education
  • Bi/multi-lingual
  • Participation in Head Start or Early Head Start
