Trade Compliance Manager

Responsibilities

Kforce has a client that is seeking a Trade Compliance Manager in Tarrytown, NY. Summary: We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Trade Compliance Manager to establish and oversee a U.S. import compliance program. This role is critical in ensuring adherence to applicable customs regulations, trade laws, and internal controls. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical expertise in U.S. import trade compliance and experience building compliance frameworks from the ground up. Key Responsibilities: Program Development:

• Design, implement, and maintain a comprehensive import compliance program aligned with business operations
• Develop and update compliance manuals, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and internal control documentation
  
  

Regulatory Compliance

• Ensure accurate tariff classification using HTS codes, customs valuation, and country-of-origin determinations
• Maintain compliance with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) regulations and requirements
• Monitor changes in trade and customs regulations and communicate impacts to internal stakeholders
  
  

Documentation & Recordkeeping:

• Oversee import documentation, including commercial invoices, packing lists, and customs entries
• Maintain records in compliance with CBP requirements (minimum five years)
  
  

Training & Education:

• Develop and deliver compliance training for procurement, logistics, and finance teams
• Promote a strong culture of trade compliance across the organization
  
  

Audit & Risk Management:

• Conduct internal audits and periodic reviews to identify compliance risks
• Lead corrective action plans and continuous improvement initiatives
  
  

Broker & Vendor Oversight:

• Manage relationships with customs brokers and freight forwarders
• Ensure third-party partners comply with company and regulatory standards
  
  

Reporting & Communication:

• Provide regular compliance updates, risk assessments, and performance metrics to leadership
  
  

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in International Business, Supply Chain, Law, or a related field
• 3 years of hands-on import trade compliance experience
• Demonstrated experience working directly with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP)
• Strong experience with HTS classification and tariff code assignment
• Solid knowledge of U.S. Customs regulations, valuation, and country-of-origin rules
• Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and trade compliance systems
• Licensed Customs Broker (highly valued but not required)
• Experience supporting regulated or highly controlled industries
• Familiarity with global trade regulations and cross-border compliance
  
  

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
