Position Summary:
We are hiring compassionate, experienced caregivers to join our Respite Care Team in Sunnyvale, CA. As a respite provider, you will support children and teens with special needs in their homes while giving families consistent, reliable care. Key Responsibilities:
- Provide in-home care for children, including those with special needs such as autism, Down syndrome, or cerebral palsy
- Engage in fun, age-appropriate activities like reading, arts and crafts, and outdoor play
- Work recurring weekly placements (weekday afternoons/evenings and weekend shifts)
- Pick up occasional, flexible assignments through our scheduling app
- Maintain a clean, safe, and child-focused environment
- Communicate effectively with families and team members
Qualifications:
- Prior childcare or nanny experience preferred (paid or volunteer)
- Experience with special needs is a strong plus (including time spent with siblings, friends, or through volunteering)
- At least two childcare references (paid or unpaid)
- Must be 18 years or older
- Available for 4-hour shifts between 12 PM – 8 PM weekdays or 8 AM – 6 PM on weekends
- Reliable, insured transportation to travel to families' homes in Sunnyvale
- Smartphone with data to access schedules and manage assignments
Physical Requirements:
- Able to lift up to 35 lbs safely
- Regular bending, squatting, sitting on the floor, and active play
- Quick response in dynamic childcare settings
- Calm and effective reaction to emergent situations
