Associate Attorney

 

We are an established real estate law firm with offices across California. Our Irvine office is looking for an Associate Attorney to join our Business Real Estate Group. If chosen as the successful candidate, you will be working closely with our clients (large statewide property management companies) to defend civil lawsuits for breach of implied warranty of habitability and other residential tenancy related claims. You will also be working closely with our clients to provide legal advice addressing habitability matters, tenancy issues, assessing the viability of commercial evictions, reviewing client records and procedures to advise and ensure compliance with state and federal laws.

Schedule:

Position is full-time, exempt. Our business hours are 8:30am-5:30pm Monday-Thursday, 8:30am-5:00pm Friday. Training will be completed in the office and then the successful hire may be permitted to work remotely/hybrid.

 

Compensation:

$130k-$170k annually (DOE) Benefits

 

Responsibilities:

  • Litigation defense relating to breach of the implied warranty of habitability and other tenancy related claims
  • Provide legal representation to clients, assessing the facts and issues of each scenario and counseling clients appropriately
  • Provide legal advice through phone consultations, emails, and video conferences
  • Draft legal correspondence, including letters and notices
  • Draft pre-trial motions and pleadings
  • Represent the firm internally and externally
  • Complete project-based work and additional duties as needed to support the practice group

The successful candidate will be required to make court appearances. This position has a billable hour goal of 1650 hours p/year.

 

Qualifications:

We are looking for candidates with the following qualifications:

  • J.D. and an active California Bar license
  • 3-5 years of civil litigation experience
  • General knowledge of civil litigation and landlord-tenant law
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Strong written and oral communication skills

The following qualifications are preferred:

  • Trial experience
  • Experience in the rental housing industry
  • Lexis/Westlaw experience
  • Experience with case management and/or document management systems
