Commercial / Industrial Painter

Description

• Perform all job functions in accordance with federal, state, local, and company safety policies and procedures at all times.
• Perform all job functions in accordance with federal, state, local, and company environmental policies and procedures at all times.
• Operate and maintain spray painting and sandblasting equipment for application of paint, stain, and other coatings to walls, ceilings, buildings, commercial vehicles, heavy equipment, and other structures, to include but not limited to: Various Urethanes, Industrial Zinc Epoxy, Industrial Alkyds, Inorganic and Organic Zinc-Rich Primers, Acrylics, Enamels.
• Protect floors, furniture, and trim by covering surfaces with drop cloths and tarps and securing with tape.
• Install scaffolding and raise ladders.
• Fill holes and cracks with putty or plaster.
• Prepare surfaces by removing outlet and switch covers and by scraping, wire brushing, or sanding to a smooth finish.
• Calculate the size of the area to be painted and the amount of paint needed for the area
• Apply primers or sealers so the paint will stick to the surface
• Operate a forklift and/or aerial man lift as needed.
• Complete required documentation accurately and within the required timeline.
• Must wear respirator protection and as required by OSHA regulation shall be fit tested for a respirator and shall have a medical evaluation performed yearly
• Employee shall be clean shaven for proper seal fit of respirator protection equipment at all times while performing painting or blasting.
• Perform other duties as needed.

Requirements

Requirements:

• Minimum of five (5) years' experience professionally painting in a commercial or industrial setting.
• Understanding of SSPC Standards and how they apply to surface coating documentation to NACE Standards.
• Understanding of how humidity, temperature, surface profile, etc. affects final product and measure / monitor throughout work flow process for reporting documentation.
• Understanding of product data sheets and the related SDS sheets, how the requirements will be met and the application of said products in a safe / timely fashion.
• Ability to work safely at heights.
• Strong verbal communication skills.
• Experience operating aerial man lifts and forklifts
• Ability to calculate area, volume, and perform other mathematical equations.
• Detail-oriented.
• Ability to work independently with direction.
• Ability to travel out of town, sometimes overnight.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to work outside in various climates, including extreme heat and cold.
• Ability to ascend and descend ladders and stairs regularly.
• Ability to bend, reach, and kneel.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
