What are the responsibilities and job description for the Employment Law Paralegal position at Konica Minolta Business Solutions, U.S.A., Inc.?
Konica Minolta is looking for an employment law paralegal to work alongside our employment attorney. In this role, you will assist with case planning, development, and management for employment related legal matters. The position objective is to perform legal research, interview clients, gather facts and retrieve information, draft and analyze legal documents, and collect and compile other information in order to assist our employment attorney.
The ideal candidate will be a team player with a proactive attitude with excellent written, verbal communication, and interpersonal skills, who has a talent for identifying opportunities for efficiencies and has a strong attention to detail.
Responsibilities
● Draft, review, analyze and organize documents in litigation and transactional matters, leveraging a deep knowledge of employment law. This includes, but not limited to, leave of absence letters in relation to the interactive process for job protective leaves of absence, position statements, and responses to federal and state agency requests.
● Monitor on-going matter activity and pending deadlines in litigation and transactional matters.
● Exercise independent judgment towards matter preparation and initiate contact with clients, attorneys and other involved parties.
● Assist with legal documents, formal discovery requests, notices, interrogatories, motions and summaries of depositions.
● Conduct legal research and analyze statutes, regulations, legal articles that impact Konica Minolta business and provide written references and analysis.
● Coordinate meetings between outside counsel and appropriate internal parties.
● Prepare and finalize quarterly litigation report.
● Assist with periodic review of governing documents and policies.
● Use up-to-date digital systems to maintain litigation logs, research, document retention and other required recordkeeping.
● Support Konica Minolta Legal Team. This includes, but not limited to administrative tasks, handling corporate governance matters, contractual matters, transactional matters, compliance matters, and other projects as requested.
Qualifications
● Bachelor's Degree in related field and/or a paralegal certificate from an ABA-accredited program
● 10 years' experience in paralegal role, ideally at a mid-large size law-firm
● 6 years of employment law and litigation experience
● Notary public - Preferred
● Knowledge of legal holds and discovery processes
● Strong analytical skills
● Strong understanding of and experience with matters concerning the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), and the Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1927 (ERISA) and equivalent state and local laws.
