KRA is seeking an experienced and strategic Program Director to lead our workforce development initiatives of an American Job Center (AJC) in Compton, CA. The successful candidate will lead strategic initiatives, manage day-to-day operations, and foster a positive environment within the center. This role requires a strong understanding of business management principles, expertise in designing effective workforce programs, and a proven track record in meeting performance benchmarks. The ideal candidate will possess outstanding communication and presentation skills, and superior time management and organizational abilities. This position also demands a keen aptitude for change management and the execution of action plans to enhance program performance.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Direct workforce services to enable the delivery system to be consistent with plans and attain the established program goals, ensuring compliance with all local, state, federal laws, rules and regulations.
- Provide general oversight and supervision to managers and functionally supervise all staff.
- Lead staff development efforts and continuing professional development initiatives.
- Participate in the recruitment, interviewing, hiring and training of all staff.
- Evaluate assigned employee performance, prepare performance appraisals, recommend and document disciplinary action.
- Establish and maintain positive working relationships with funders, employers, state and local partners, organizations and businesses in the community.
- Orchestrate community events such as job in-person and virtual job fairs
- Represent KRA at conferences, community events, board meetings, podcasts and social media.
- Oversee overall financial management for the projects/contracts assigned.
- Supervise internal and external audits.
- Preforms other related duties as required and directed

- Travel approximately 30% of the time.
- Proficiency in Spanish Language highly desired.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in education, business administration or related field from an accredited college or university; Master’s degree strongly preferred.
- A minimum of five (5) years of workforce development, operations of employment and training programs required.
- A minimum of five (5) years of supervisory experience required
- Experience working with adults in the workforce system and those disconnected from services
- Experience administering Workforce Innovation Opportunity Act (WIOA) programs.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Personal computer literacy required, including effective use of the Internet, e-mail, video conferencing (Zoom, Teams) and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook). Ability to learn and efficiently utilize various case management software programs.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, sit, talk and hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
