Position Summary

Summary:
In addition to performing RN duties, also performs Team Leader duties to include but not limited to coaching and mentoring collaborating with and motivating staff, leading by example, roundng and conflict management. Under general direction, the Registered Nurse Team Leader works with patients, families, providers and staff to promote timely access to needed care, providing daily continuity of care coordination and educating/coaching patients, families, and caregivers to understand the patients' care plan and self-care manaagement responsibilities. The RN Team leader has a solid understanding of workflows in their department and is committed to maximizing available resources to ensure the best possible patient outcomes. The RN Team Leader works closely with the department manager and acts as an extension of the management team in the manager's absense.

  • Standard Wk Duties: RN Specialty Team Lead/NICU
  • Actively participates in team development, achieving dashboards and in accomplishing department goals and objectives
  • Using a collaborative leadership style, facilitates the achievement of department quality, safety, satisfaction and stewardship.
  • Coaches employees and focuses on ongoing staff development.
  • Oversees the orientation of new employees, assesses the ongoing competence of all employees.
  • Proactively addresses issues within the team and acts to modify behavior to facilitate effective relationships.
  • Demonstrates flexibiliy, enthusiasm, and willingness to cooperate while working with others in multi-disciplinary teams with activities to include participating in daily huddles.
  • Uses case management processes to assure quality, evidence-based care is delivered to patients, their families/caregivers in the most efficient and effective manner across the healthcare continuum.
  • Research, identify and link patients to resources, services and support mechanisms of their care plans and self-care management needs.
  • Provides timely communication with patients, makes inquiries, executes follow-up actions and works to integrate information into the patients plan of care.
  • Utilizing the nursing process as a guide, delivers patient-centered and culturally sensitive care to diverse populations.

  • Demonstrates accountability for shift/team operations and care/service delivery to support achievement of organizational priorities.
  • Coaches front line team members to support ongoing professional development and hardwire technical and professional capabilities.
  • Creates a high performing team by building strong relationships, delegating work and nurturing commitment and engagement.
  • Manages team conflict/issues implementing appropriate corrective actions, improvement plans and regular performance evaluations.
  • Applies change management best practices and standard work to support departmental changes and ensure effective team transition.
  • Promotes a healthy and safe culture to advance system, team and service experience.

Qualifications & Experience

Education:
Essential:
  • Associate Degree in Nursing
Nonessential:
  • Bachelor Degree in Nursing

Education equivalent experience:
Essential:
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
Nonessential:
  • Nursing or other health-related field



Other information:
Experience Essential:
  • MInimum of 3 years experience in an ambulatory setting
  • Must complete the LRH Supervisor's Training (e.g. Supervisor Orientation and/or Team Leader Toolkit) within the first six months in role.
  • 2 years' experience in specialty (NICU)

Certifications Essential: Basic Cardiac Life Support
Certifications Preferred: Advance Cardiac Life Support, NRP
Licenses Essential: Current license as Registered Nurse in Florida.
