Job Title: Medical Receptionist
Hours: Evening coverage until 7:30 pm is needed Monday thru Thursday with regular day time hours on Fridays. Start time can be flexible. Saturday rotation of 9am to 12pm once or twice a month.
Position Summary: Responsible for providing efficient and courteous contact with all business associates. Schedules all patients in a positive and pleasant manner and enters information in the computer.
Qualifications:
- High school graduate or equivalent (preferred)
- Six months of related experience (preferred)
- Basic insurance terminology (preferred)
- Valid PA Drivers License and personal car (required)
- Able to accurately type 40 wpm on PC keyboard (preferred)
- Display knowledge of the use of various office equipment including: PC, copier, fax, telephone, postage machine, and printer
Essential Duties:
- Greets all patients and business associates in a professional manner. Directs all visitors to appropriate personnel.
- Obtains all pertinent patient information, copies insurance cards, gets appropriate signatures and enters all information correctly into the Epic system.
- Schedules new patient appointments and follow up appointments with LOG doctors. Schedules tests or appointments with other facilities in a timely fashion and gives appropriate paperwork to the patient. Explains all instructions thoroughly to the patient.
- Responsible to change scheduled appointments when instructed to do so by an administrative assistant or a supervisor.
- Obtains all pertinent patient information such as symptoms, date of birth, insurance coverage, etc. Completes appropriate patient information sheet and enters information into the computer.
- Files all correspondence, reports, or forms in accurate location in an orderly fashion within the chart. Keeps work area neat and personal files organized and identified. Displays neat, legible handwriting.
- Communicates clearly and effectively by consulting supervisor regarding problems that arise. Offers suggestions to create and improve efficiency within the department.
- Works collaboratively with co-workers, patients, business associates, and supervisor to assure customer satisfaction. Works with co-workers and supervisor in a positive, professional manner.
