Position Summary
The Administrative Hearing Attorney is responsible for conducting administrative hearings, ensuring due process, and issuing legally sound decisions based on applicable laws, regulations, and evidence presented. This role requires strong legal judgment, hearing management skills, and the ability to clearly communicate decisions and procedures to involved parties.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct administrative hearings via telephone or other approved remote formats.
- Question parties and witnesses, rule on evidentiary matters, and control the course of hearings.
- Develop and maintain an accurate hearing record.
- Perform legal research and issue legally sound, well-reasoned written decisions.
- Provide clear information to parties regarding hearing procedures and expectations.
- Assist parties in effectively navigating the hearing process.
- Investigate and respond to customer or participant complaints as needed.
- Ensure timely follow-up to confirm that issued decisions are properly implemented.
Required Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree – REQUIRED
- Strong knowledge of administrative law principles and hearing procedures.
- Excellent legal research, analytical, and writing skills.
- Ability to manage hearings independently and maintain procedural fairness.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fully remote environment.
