POSITION SUMMARY:

The Assistant Baseball Coach is responsible for assisting with various aspects of the baseball program, including recruiting, scheduling opponents and organizing practice.

Salary Schedule: Local Salary Schedule 9 Month Appointment- $12,000 potential summer 3 month appointment for recruitment - $3,000

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Assist Head Coach with recruiting and training members of the Men's Baseball Team.
2. Uphold the values and standards of the Head Coach.
3. Meet LSCC, ACCC, and NJCAA deadlines for eligibility, stats, etc.
4. Possesses knowledge of and remains current in Title IX, FERPA, and all applicable

College policies and practices.
5. Monitor student/athlete’s conduct, academic progress and study sessions.
6. Monitor athletes before, during and after seasons.
7. Assist with fundraising in support of the Baseball program.
8. Attend LSCC Athletic Orientation.
9. Participate in professional development and community service activities.

10. Follow medical procedures for injured athletes.
11. Maintain exemplary personal and team conduct to reflect a positive image for the team and Lawson State, both on and off the playing area.
12. Assist with Field Maintenance for the LSCC baseball complex.
13. Assist in supervising team practices and competition activities.
14. Assist in managing inventory of and care for athletic equipment, uniforms, and supplies.
15. Knowledge of and committed to NJCAA rules of compliance.
16. Commit to working effectively with students, faculty, and staff from diverse backgrounds.
17. Build and maintain relationships with all High School and Travel Ball Coaches.
18. Create a detailed plan of action with specific long and short term goals for the year.
19. Assist in compiling and organizing scouting reports on teams we are scheduled to play.
20. Assign post practice and game responsibilities to players.
21. Must be able to throw batting practice.
22. Assist with coordinating high school game schedules for recruiting.
23. Assist in organizing camps, showcases, tryouts and tournaments for high school players.
24. Perform other duties as assigned by appropriate supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS:

REQUIRED EDUCATION, STANDARDS, AND TRAINING:

1. Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution
2. At least one (1) to three (3) years of coaching experience at the secondary, intercollegiate level, or higher.
3. Excellent oral and written communication skills.

REQUIRED LICENSE, CERTIFICATION, OR SPECIAL CREDENTIALS:

1. CPR/AED certified (must become certified before season begins)
2. Valid driver’s license and clean driving record

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS AND JOB REQUIREMENTS:

1. Ability to make effective decisions and exhibit sound judgment.
2. Ability to resolve conflict and promote a team spirit.
3. Ability to motivate, encourage, mentor and support academic and athletic success.4.

Ability to work non-standard hours, nights, weekends, some holidays and travel.

The Assistant Baseball Coach will be expected to work a flexible schedule which may include day, evenings, nights, weekends, some holidays and travel.
