What are the responsibilities and job description for the Bartender position at Le Pavillon?
The Bartender is responsible for creating cocktails for the guests, as well as creating the cocktail list, liquor inventory and purchasing. The Bartender should be an expert in spirits, liqueurs and cocktails and should have a strong knowledge of the menu and wine list.
Le Pavillon is Chef Daniel's 1 Michelin rated seafood & vegetable forward oasis in the heart of Midtown, across from Grand Central Terminal. Bartenders work in a pooled-tip service role that works closely with the management team and all other front-of-house and back-of-house team members.
Essential Duties:
- Greet all guests with enthusiasm and friendliness
- Engage the guests to create positive dining experiences
- Create cocktail list
- Prepare the mise en place for the bar
- Pour all drinks for bar guests and from printed tickets for servers
- Execute on-going side work
- Open and close the bar as needed
- Assist with inventory of all alcohol and beverages as needed
- Maintain the bar clean at all times
- Be knowledgeable of food items and wine list
Competencies & Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a fine dining environment
- Knowledge of and interest in fine cuisine and wines
- Outstanding knowledge of liquors and spirits
- Actively practice food safety procedures
- Able to take direction and complete tasks
- Organizational skills
- Effective time management
- Pleasant demeanor
- Positive and clear written and oral communication skills
- Ability to work well in a team environment
- Ability to engage guests successfully and build a relationship
