What are the responsibilities and job description for the Building Substitute Elementary School position at Ledyard Public Schools?
Ledyard Public Schools is seeking dedicated Building Substitute Teachers for Gales Ferry School/Juliet W Long School for the 2024-2025 school year. Building substitutes will be assigned to a singular school. You will report daily to the building administrator each day while school is in session.
As a building substitute teacher you serve a vitally important function in the education of our students. Building substitute teachers are responsible for following lesson plans, supervising students, maintaining a classroom environment conducive to learning and are respectful of the needs of students.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent required
- Bachelor’s Degree required **(see below)
- Connecticut teaching certificate preferred
- Enthusiasm for teaching and learning
- Applicants must be 18 or older
**For educators who do not have a bachelor’s degree, a district can apply for a waiver using the following steps:
- The district may submit an online application detailing the applicant’s experience with school-age children.
Pay:
- The daily rate for building substitute teachers is $125.

Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer or standing to teach
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times
