What are the responsibilities and job description for the Building Substitute High School position at Ledyard Public Schools?
Ledyard Public Schools is seeking dedicated High School Building Substitute Teachers for the 2023-2024 school year. Building substitutes will be assigned to a singular school. You will report daily to the building administrator each day while school is in session.
As a building substitute teacher you serve a vitally important function in the education of our students. Building substitute teachers are responsible for following lesson plans, supervising students, maintaining a classroom environment conducive to learning and are respectful of the needs of students.
Qualifications:
- Connecticut teaching certificate preferred
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred
- Enthusiasm for teaching and learning
For applicants interested in substitute teaching but do not hold a bachelor’s degree, a brief waiver application (which we will provide) will be submitted to the CT State Department of Education. Applicant must be 18 years of age or older and have a high school diploma or equivalent.
Pay:
- The daily rate for building substitute teachers is $100.

Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer or standing to teach
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times
- Must be able to traverse the classroom and adjust one's tone and height, by bending or leaning, in order to teach each child
