The Art Therapist must provide creative processes of art making to improve and enhance the physical, mental, and emotional well-being of the consumers. These services will be conducted in adult outpatient, community, and residential setting comprised of patients that have ASD, ADHD, developmental, emotional and mood disorders.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
- Administer art therapy to the consumers in a clinic, community, and/or residential setting
- Conduct in-depth evaluation which include both standardized testing and structured clinical observations, typically requiring one to two hours of testing time, followed by scoring and clinical interpretation.
- Provide a conference and a detailed assessment report for each evaluation.
- Determine areas of concern, identify goals, and develop treatment plans for consumers.
- Document results concisely and accurately of consumer’s evaluation, treatment, follow-up, and termination of services
- Maintain thorough, up to date treatment notes on each consumer
- Develop appropriate home programs for consumers when applicable, demonstrating improvement in all areas of development
- Provide direction, training and assistance to staff and volunteers assigned to Pennsylvania Integrated Clinical Services
- Demonstrate positive interaction with co-workers, consumers, and families, treating all with respect and responsiveness to their needs
- Attend staff and in-service meetings, with the opportunity to occasionally lead a portion of the in-service training
- Exhibit knowledge of health and safety for the consumers and yourself, including OSHA standards
- Follow ATCB guidelines for ethical and high-quality job performance.
- Arrive to work promptly and demonstrate good time management skills
- Identify own continuing education needs and pursue continuing education courses
- Perform related duties as assigned
- Ability to work independently and be a competent team player
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- Master’s degree in Art Therapy or counseling from an accredited school of Art Therapy
- Must complete the required core curriculum as outlined in the American Art Therapy Association's (AATA) education standards.
- Licensed in the state of PA
- Minimum 2 years of clinical experience in an adult therapy setting
HOURS OF WORK
Full Time / Part Time (To be determined based on the needs of the business)
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as procedure manuals and work instructions. Ability to write, routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak and communicate well with consumers and staff.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Successful completion of FBI fingerprint (as required), PA Criminal Background Check, Child Abuse Clearance, Drug Screen, and complete a Physical
- Effective communication both oral and written
- Proficiency in conducting evaluations in a clinical- based community and residential setting
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
- PA Licensure and/or Certification
- Passing the National Exam by the Certification Board of Art Therapy (ATR-BC)
