The DSP will work directly with clients in the residential group homes and provide assistance in their daily living.
Responsibilities
Providing personal hygiene care
Assistance in transportation
Meal preparation
House Cleaning
Active participation and guidance during recreational activities
Administer medication in accordance with training and procedures
Following through on any and all established behavior programs
Ensure ongoing implementation of ISP Goals
Treat all clients with dignity and respect
Work cooperatively with fellow LOU staff
Attend all staff meetings
Write clear and concise progress notes
Work directly under the supervision of the Lead Program Specialist
Qualifications
High School diploma or equivalent
Certified Home Health Aide (CHHA), Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Licensed Nursing Assistant (LNA), Personal Care Aide (PCA), Patient Care Tech (PCT), Direct Support Professional(DSP) - preferred, not required
Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities
Must be 18 years or older
Proven professional written and verbal communication skills
Strong computer skills
Strong problem-solving skills
Possess a valid New Jersey Driver’s License
Must be able to successfully complete all NJ Division of Developmental Disabilities mandated trainings within the first 120 days of employment
