Job Overview:
Under the direction of the Director, the MSC will assist with and ensure the development, implementation, and documentation of management/supervisory learning and development activities. This includes new manager orientation and introduction to continuing professional development opportunities for new leaders. The MSC, in collaboration with Senior Leadership, will assist in the transition to their management role each and continue to support them as they develop their leadership skills.
Essential Duties & responsibiliries:
1. Provide guidance, advice, feedback, and support to managers or those inspired to become managers.
2. Develop a framework and goal planning for new incumbents to develop their skills and advance in their career path.
3. Instruct, model, and empower mentees to develop leadership skills such as resolving issues, developing coping strategies, building healthy and supportive relationships, setting boundaries, and developing communication skills.
4. Deliver and/or coordinate the delivery of management training programs to appropriate staff in a timely manner.
a. Work with Administrative Assistant to schedule training session time, date, and place. Provide materials, equipment, and Instructor (when needed).
b. Identify and communicate with all stakeholders to include HR team, employee, training team, and associated managers as appropriate.
5. Assist in maintaining all learning and development documentation as per regulations and agency policies to include but not limited to employee records, attendance records, and instructor records of designated courses.
6. Assist in supporting exceptional training by keeping up to date with best practices and outside provider opportunities. As assigned, assist with the dissemination of announcements to all staff regarding professional workshops, seminars and continuing education opportunities which are available and appropriate to agency staff.
7. In cooperation with management staff, assist in the preparation for and participate in federal/state certification reviews as it relates to staff training.
8. Provide training at on-site locations as needed, with flexibility for evening or weekend hours.
9. Adhere to agency policies and procedures and always assure accurate representation.
10. Perform other appropriate duties upon request from the supervisor.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE and SKILLS: Bachelor’s degree in a related field with two years of experience in I/DD direct services or staff training or
Associate with 4 yrs, or 8 years of experience in I/DD direct services with at least one year of experience training others.
Preferred experience in leadership instruction and facilitation.
Professional written and verbal business correspondence.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions in and out of classroom.
Ability to effectively communicate with all populations.
Ability to define problems, collect data and establish facts and work together to find positive solutions.
The employee will be required to successfully complete the SCIP-R (Strategies for Crisis Intervention and Prevention) course, which requires demonstrated competence in physical restraints.
Travel and a flexible schedule is required.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $62,232.00 - $65,000.00 per year
