What are the responsibilities and job description for the Service Technician I - Night Vehicle Inspector, 260 days, Second Shift, M-F position at Lincoln Public Schools?
The Service Technician I primary responsibility is to do the fluid level maintenance on each school bus each evening that school is in session as well as some light mechanical work. Person will also be expected to answer radio calls that come into the shop in order to assist the mechanics. Also, other miscellaneous assignments that may arise.
Performs the following tasks:
Transportation Mechanics/Service Technicians are responsible for the general service and maintenance of all vehicles and equipment owned by the Lincoln Public Schools.
- Maintaining valid class “B” Nebraska Commercial Driver’s license.
- Performing fluid level and general vehicle inspections.
- Maintain clean and safe working conditions in the shop area.
- Secure transportation area daily against theft or abuse.
- Ability to work well with other employees of the Transportation Department and other staff of the Lincoln Public Schools.
- Attends Vehicle Maintenance conferences and schools on different times and day schedules.
- Records necessary information required to perform each job.
- Perform various other duties, which might arise in the operation of a vehicle maintenance shop.
- Keep a current service inventory.
- Do safety checks while servicing vehicles.
- Perform light repairs on vehicles as per direction from shop supervisor.
- Regular, dependable attendance is an essential function of this position.
- Other duties as assigned

$27.27 hourly rate
2nd Shift, M-F 2:00pm - 10:30pm
