Boone County Reporter

LINK Media is looking for a Boone County Reporter to help us deliver daily news and in-depth, solutions-focused coverage of the issues that matter most to the Northern Kentucky community. We need someone who can manage a beat, develop relationships, write quickly and well, and who knows their way around digital media. We're a startup, so everyone we hire is a critical member of the team, and must be willing to work quickly, accept that we don't have everything figured out, remain flexible, and above all else, understand that what we are creating is bigger than any one person, or personality. 

Salary: $35,000-$40,000 per year, plus benefits 

What We Expect from You:

• Manage the Boone County Beat for regular coverage areas while also enterprising stories within and outside of Boone County
• Publish digital and multimedia reports and creative stories
• Accept assignments and follow up on news tips
• Build relationships with local officials, community members, and potential sources
• Strong journalistic integrity and creativity
• Maintain notes and audio recordings from stories/sources for review when necessary
• Work in collaboration with managing editor and chief content officer to develop content strategy
• Attend daily news meeting

Skills We Need You to Have:

• Experience or education as news reporter
• Strong writing and speaking skills
• Multimedia knowledge (websites, photo, audio, video editing)
• Comfortable in social, government, and political settings
