SUMMARY AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:


The Electronic Health Record Lead Systems Administrator (EHR LSA) is responsible for managing and supporting the functional operation and configuration of the organization’s the electronic EHR. This includes all individual applications that comprise the organization’s EHR. Incumbent collaborates as appropriate with internal staff as a key part of the Information and Data Services Department (IDS) and with others in administrative and clinical operations to accommodate and meet hardware and software needs in coordination with the IDS Coordinator/IT Contracted Services Provider. Participates in and leads routine clinical and technical discussions to establish solutions for how to effectively and efficiently use the capabilities of the EHR. Manages and supports daily operations to include troubleshooting and identifying appropriate solutions. Analyzes and develops long and short term plans for the EHR applications with existing and future vendors. Utilizes reports and dashboards reflecting clinical user trends and potential issues to be addressed. Communicates with clinical staff to align EHR functional capability with clinical business processes. Manages verification and usefulness of new functional updates and capabilities to the electronic health record. Collaborates with all external agencies and vendors as required to meet operational requirements.


Responsibilities:

  • Serves as lead EHR system administrator for the organization;
  • Identifies and tests system enhancements;
  • Defines and maintains system administration documentation;
  • Organize and direct system user groups;
  • Monitors system performance and performs ongoing analysis to determine most efficient and effective means to operate the system;
  • Provides assistance to system users;
  • Oversees user acceptance testing;
  • Technically supervise and coordinate the EHR application analyst team on a recurring or project basis;
  • Generates reports to meet special needs;
  • Acts as intermediary between users and technical staff to resolve problems;
  • Oversees training to users;
  • Develops and provides technical briefings as needed for staff on new services and system components;
  • Stays abreast of technology changes;
  • Attends training workshops, product demonstrations, conferences, technical briefings, and conventions as directed by the executive responsible for the IDS Department;
  • Serves on committees and task forces and undertakes special projects as assigned.
  • Advises the executive responsible for the IDS Department in:
    • Evaluating new technology for applicability and enhanced effectiveness;
    • Developing strategic plans to ensure solutions comply with established standards;
    • Establishing priorities and timetables for system-related projects;
  • Works with the Chief Medical Information Officer (CMIO)
    • to develop conceptual approaches to satisfy user requirements as needed;
    • to evaluate and prioritize requests for new requirements, modifications, and enhancements to existing systems and coordinates on possible implementation.
  • Works closely with the IDS Coordinator:
    • to coordinate technical resources and directs functional design and implementation;
    • on system-related issues and scheduling of system priorities in collaboration with representatives from outside agencies and vendors.


REPORTS TO:
Executive responsible for the IDS Department

SUPERVISES: Technical supervision of EHR administration team

INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL CONTACTS:

Administrative and clinical staff, providers & hospital personnel.

QUALIFICATIONS:


Experience/Specialized Skills:

  • Three to five years’ experience in a medical setting.
  • At least one year of clinical supervisory experience preferred.
  • Significant experience administering complex software systems, including user provisioning, troubleshooting, and end user support.
  • Three (3) years of EMR administration experience
  • Knowledge of MSSQL 2008 end relational database design and architecture.
  • Some knowledge of T-SQL, stored procedures, functions and views preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent problem solving ability and data analytics skills.
  • Ability to prioritize work and work independency.

Required Education/Course(s)/Training:

  • Bachelors in either computer or healthcare related field or equivalent required.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:


Clean, well lit office environment, some exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, bodily fluids, medicinal preparations and other conditions common to a clinic environment.

Salary : $59,200 - $74,900
