This role is responsible for tasks related to the development and maintenance of functional and secure networks. A network engineer is also responsible for troubleshooting client’s networking related issues. Problem-solving skills, knowledge of network administration and architecture, and an understanding of security and data protection are also requirements of a network engineer.
Requirements
What you'll own
- Complete tasking related to deploying functional networks
- Configure and install software, switches, routers, firewalls and other network devices
- Monitor network performance and integrity
- Resolve issues tiers of support have escalated
- Automate tasks and monitor effectiveness
- Test security measures (e.g. access authentication and disaster recovery)
- Communicate with team leads and/or clients on status of deliverables
- Maintain complete technical documentation
What we're looking for
- Firewalls and security – Understanding of firewalls and network security.
- Network administration and architecture – Experience with different types of networks.
- Programming languages – Proficient in general-purpose scripting languages such as PowerShell and Python.
- Hardware and infrastructure – Some knowledge of the major network hardware vendors and what products they offer.
- Understanding of network operating systems
- Understanding of virtualization and automation
- Understanding of network diagnostic, monitoring and analysis tools
- Analytical thinking and troubleshooting - The ability to identify potential problems within the network before and after they arise. Use analytical skills to understand where a problem is originating from, and a troubleshooting process to effectively solve the issue and prevent it from happening again.
What to expect
Prolonged sitting at a desk and using a computer, must be able to lift at least 15 pounds, and be able to work in an office with other employees.
