Local Equivalency Statement
- Minimum of 18 units of completed lower division General Education credits in 3 out
of 4 General Education requirement areas (Language and Rationality; Natural
Science; Humanities; and Social Sciences) AND - Culinary Arts/Food Services related certification such as:
a. Certification as a working Chef by any Culinary Federation AND
b. Membership in at least one Culinary Trade Organization AND - Minimum of eight (8) years full-time food services occupational experience in the
Food Services Industry (such as pastry, cold kitchen, banquets and/or gourmet
foods) OR
Minimum of twelve (12) units of completed Culinary Arts classes AND six (6) years
of food service occupational experience (such as pastry, cold kitchen, banquets
and/or gourmet foods).
1. Recent community college or lower division teaching experience.
2. Minimum seven (7) years full-time, hands-on experience in commercial/industrial kitchens (e.g. Luxury Hotel, Fine-Dining Restaurant) in several different positions in the Escoffier Kitchen Brigade (e.g. Entremetier, Garde Manger, Tournant, Rôtisseur, Poissoiner, Saucier, Chef de Partie, Sous Chef de Cuisine, Chef de Cuisine, Executive Sous Chef, and Executive Chef), as well as experience in Baking and Pastry.
- A Long Beach Community College District application.
- A current resume.
- ALL graduate and undergraduate transcripts, showing school name, all college coursework, degree title and conferral date. This includes transcripts for any and all for the following degrees, AA, BA/BS, MA/MS and above (Ed.D, Ph.D. etc.) and courses used for transfer credit. Transcripts can be official or unofficial and must be submitted as an attachment. The conferral date must be on or before the application deadline in order to meet Minimum Qualifications.
- Transcripts from countries other than the United States must be evaluated by an agency that is a member of the National Association of Credentials Evaluation Service (NACES) and Association of International Credential Evaluators, Inc (AICE)
- Applicants who do not meet the Statewide Minimum Qualifications for this discipline verbatim are required to submit a Supplemental Equivalency Application
