ABOUT THE POSITON

The teaching assignment may be at the Liberal Arts campus, the Pacific Coast campus or other college teaching locations. The assignment may be day, evening, weekend, online or off campus and is subject to change as needed. Part-time faculty positions are as needed positions and do not accrue rights to tenure. Part-time faculty positions offer flexible hours and the opportunity to assist a diverse group of adult students in achieving their educational goals. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 
Master’s or Master of Fine Arts in drama/theater arts/ performance
OR 
Bachelor’s or Bachelor of Fine Arts in drama/theater arts/performance AND Master’s in comparative literature, English, communication studies, speech, literature or humanities OR 
the equivalent

All Candidates Must Demonstrate:
Evidence of a sensitivity, understanding, and ability to manage the classroom environment AND effectively provide instruction to community college students of diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds.
 
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS: 
  • Master's degree in theatrical set design and/or lighting design and/or costume design and/or video / projection design 

  • Master's in theatrical lighting design and/or costume design ; OR,

  • Bachelor's in fine art, architecture/ architectural lighting, exhibition design, or theater arts/technical direction and/or scenic design and/or lighting design and/or costume design AND professional experience working as a designer / programmer / drafter/ technician in live entertainment field and/or themed entertainment. 

  • Proficiency in drafting software such as Vectorworks, AutoCAD

  • Proficiency in programming on lighting console such as ETC consoles. 

  • Proficiency in rendering (hand drawings and/or digital drawings)  

  • Experience and knowledge in Hair and Makeup design, execution & application of the design, and teaching of the application. 

  • Experience and knowledge in Wig design, execution & application of the design, and teaching of the application. 

  • Experience and willingness in respectfully working with socioeconomically and racially diverse group of students, faculty, and staff. As well as a wide range of ages. 

  • Recent community college or lower division college teaching experience.

  • ALL graduate and undergraduate transcripts, showing school name, all college coursework, degree title and conferral date. This includes transcripts for any and all for the following degrees, BA/BS, MA/MS and above (Ed.D, Ph,D, etc.) and courses used for transfer credit. Transcripts can be official or unofficial and must be submitted as an attachment. The conferral date must be on or before the application deadline in order to meet Minimum Qualifications.
  • Transcripts from countries other than the United States must be evaluated by an agency that is a member of the National Association of Credentials Evaluation Service (NACES).
