What are the responsibilities and job description for the Dental Assistant position at Longmont Periodontics?
We are looking for a competent dental assistant who will strive to make our practice efficient and pleasant for patients. This position would be for Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday at our office location in Longmont. Our ideal candidate should have excellent communication skills, attention to detail, the ability to work well in a fast-paced environment, be friendly and a team player!
SUMMARY
Responsible for assisting the dentist in the clinical treatment of patients, maintaining dental equipment, and prepping dental stations for patient visits.
SPECIFIC DUTIES
Patient Management
· Set up treatment rooms for procedures and keep dental units ready, stocked and clean
· Assisting the Periodontist during a variety of treatment procedures through 4-handed dentistry
· Escort patients to and from the treatment room, asking about the patient’s medical history, taking blood pressure and pulse
· Ensure proper treatment notes are recorded in patient’s chart
· Put treatment plan in computer system while doctor talks to patient
· Taking dental x-rays
· Provide patients with instructions for oral care following procedures
· Disinfect treatment rooms according to OSHA regulations
· Sterilize all instruments and handpieces according to OSHA regulations
· Monitor inventory and order dental office supplies as needed
EDUCATION AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS
· High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
· Graduate of accredited dental assisting program or dental assisting experience preferred
· Compliance with state dental practice requirements (e.g., x-ray training requirements, OSHA and HIPAA training)
· Maintain CPR with AED certification or BLS certification
· Must be able to move and lift up to 35lbs
· Physical demands include bending and sitting for extended periods

· Additional Paid Time Off: You will receive an additional 16 hours of paid time off each year following a probationary period. Any unused portion of this time will be paid out at the end of the year if not utilized.
