Essential Functions:
Provides information to the public and answers questions concerning inmate housing, location, status, and visiting hours
Registers and monitors public for video visits with inmates
Processes authorized open records requests, and files records and documentsExamples of Work:
UNDER GENERAL SUPERVISION
Answers phone calls, provides information, takes messages, and routes calls
Conducts read-only queries, locates and retrieves information, generates routine reports, and completes forms
Registers public for video visiting sessions, escorts to booth location, explains procedures, monitors activity and maintains order, contacts security for assistance in resolving incidents or disturbances, and secures area at end of session
Contacts inmate housing units to provide information and coordinate inmate visiting operations
Verifies identity of public through valid photo identification, and processes open records requests through established procedures
Compiles and files department records; and duplicates and collates forms, reports, and other documents
Processes records for archives according to established retention schedules
Performs related workPhysical Requirements & Working Conditions:
Meets regular and punctual attendance standards and any special needs of the position as determined by management, including mandatory overtime and performing related work
Minimum Requirements:
High school diploma or the equivalent
One year of customer service, clerical, receptionist, computer data entry, centralized records filing, court records processing, criminal justice, or security experience
Other Requirements:
Must not have been convicted of a felony
Misdemeanor convictions will be considered on an individual basis
Must submit to a pre-employment polygraph test
Must pass an annual tuberculin test
Equivalency:
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted
Special Requirements:
Applicants and employees in positions which perform job duties that may require contact with offenders in the custody or supervision of the Department of Juvenile Justice or with youth in the care, custody or supervision of Youth Development
must meet qualifications pursuant to the federal Prison Rape Elimination Act, 28 CFR 115.17 and 115.317, to include periodic post-employment criminal background checks
