Essential Functions:
Assists patrons and completes special projects
Supervises, leads, develops and coordinates specialized programs and functions for a regional library or a department of the Main library
Exercises supervision over subordinate personnelExamples of Work:
UNDER ADMINISTRATIVE SUPERVISION
Prepares and generates reports and statistical data
Provides technical assistance and instruction and answers questions regarding the use of the library, collections, and services
Requests building maintenance, equipment repair, and custodial services
Coordinates collection, development, programming and resource sharing activities
Catalogs books, periodicals or other materials
Prepares book lists and bibliographies
Reviews and evaluates resource materials, and recommends the acquisition of books, periodicals, audiovisual and other materials
Advises and assists patrons on the selection, organization and interpretation of library materials
Gives talks to community groups and schools, and directs tours of the library
Assists library patrons with check-out and return of materials
Supervises, plans, coordinates, and participates in library and community programs
Supervises staff and recruits, trains, schedules and leads volunteers
Serves as a resource person to library staff
Develops and maintains relationships with community organizations, local businesses, neighborhood and school groups, and library support associations
Performs related workPhysical Requirements & Working Conditions:
Meets regular and punctual attendance standards and any special needs of the position as determined by management, including mandatory overtime and performing related work
Communicates with individuals in person and utilizes all types of communication media
Reviews information from video displays, printed and micro-form documents
Lifts and carries items weighing up to 35 pounds
Minimum Requirements:
Master's degree
Library Science
Related field
Two years of librarian experience, including one year of supervisory experience
Other Minimums:
Must provide one's own source of transportation
Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license
Must work a varied schedule
Must hold and maintain a Professional certification in the State of Kentucky (KRS 171.250) within 30 days of employment
Eligible for certificate of Librarianship from the State Board for the Certification of Librarians
Equivalency:
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted, but must include one year of supervisory experience

Ability to communicate effectively and professionally
Skill in time management and organization
Ability to effectively work with diverse population

Knowledge and proficiency with Microsoft products, internet, e-mail and downloadable electronic devicesDesirables:
Experience developing and facilitating large-scale library events and programs.
Ability to drive and operate Bookmobile
