Reports to: Building Administrator

POSITION SUMMARY

  • Performs responsible human support and paraprofessional work assisting classroom teachers or other certificated staff in helping students achieve instructional objectives and established goals in the areas of reading and/or mathematics.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Assists the classroom teacher in performing specific duties as assigned or undertaking specialized tasks to achieve and enhance instructional objectives.
  • Provides practice activities and repetitions in reading and/or math as developed by classroom and/or Title I teacher(s).
  • Assists with large and small group reading and/or math activities.
  • Guides independent study in reading and/or math as assigned by the teacher.
  • Reports and assists with student problems.
  • Supervises students during unstructured time such as lunch and recess.
  • Assists with student routines.
  • Maintains courteous, professional and effective working relationships with all levels of employees.
  • Works the days and hours necessary to perform all assigned responsibilities and tasks.
  • Performs related duties as necessary.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • A minimum of sixty (60) credit hours from an accredited post- secondary institution or career technical facility, or an Associate’s Degree, or successful completion of the ParaPro assessment.

  • Some experience in working with children.
