Our client in the Chambersburg, PA area is looking to hire a reliable and hardworking Delivery Driver - Box Truck to join their team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for transporting and delivering staircases, rails, cabinets, and built-ins to residential job sites. This role requires excellent driving skills, physical strength, and the ability to work efficiently as part of a team. Boxes are pre-loaded but need to be hooked up to the trailer at the beginning of each shift. Trucks are to be cleaned and maintained at the end of every shift.
The Day-to-Day:
- Driving Time: Drivers spend approximately 60% of the workweek on the road.
- Operate a 22ft standard box truck to complete local deliveries and pickups. This role involves frequent and heavy lifting of materials throughout the shift—physical stamina is a must.
- Distance & Stops: On a typical day, drivers may travel between 100 to 400 miles and make up to 12 stops.
- Arrival Protocol: Upon arriving at the job site, driver helpers are expected to exit the vehicle and act as spotters to assist with safe parking.
- Delivery Conditions: In some cases, the truck may not be able to access the driveway. In these instances, products may need to be carried up to 100 yards to reach the home.
- Unloading Responsibility: Drivers and helpers are responsible for unloading the truck upon arrival. - Stairs: 180–480 lbs - Rails: ~40 lbs - Cabinets: 30–210 lbs
- Lifting Expectations: Employees may be required to lift up to 75 lbs individually. Items exceeding this weight should be handled with a team lift. (Stairs, rails, and tread components are delivered inside the house.) (Cabinets and built-ins must be delivered to the appropriate rooms, which may involve carrying items up to three flights of stairs.)
- Returns: Ensure all returned items are securely boxed and documented before leaving the job site.
- Recordkeeping: Maintain accurate delivery logs, including timestamped photos of each delivery.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma
- DOT Certification
- Two or more years of delivery experience with a box truck (preferred)
- Clean driving record, at least 3 years prior
- Excellent communication skills
- Good physical condition with no lifting restraints or limitations
- Ability to work in a self-managed environment
- Conscientious, hardworking, team player, and detail oriented
- Ability to perform additional tasks as needed
Pay Rate:
- $20.00 to $24.00 /hr
