What are the responsibilities and job description for the People & Culture Intern position at Lyric Opera of Chicago?
REPORTS TO: Vice President, People & Culture

The People & Culture Intern will support the development and implementation of the company’s New Employee Experience Onboarding program. Responsibilities will include research and benchmarking other companies assisting with the New Employee Experience Orientation. In addition, this role will lead and coordinate internship activities and events for other interns across the company, including lunch and learn sessions and interactive social activities.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead research and benchmarking efforts supporting design, development, and implementation of People & Culture programs.
- Onboarding: Assist with onboarding processes for new hires and interns, coordinate meetings, social interactions, and lunch and learn sessions.
- People & Culture Administration: Assist with sorting, scanning, filing, and documenting employee records and data.
- Lyric Intern Program: Assist with refining our internship program, including capacity building and recreational activities for interns, etc.
- Support Inclusion, Diversity, Equity & Access (IDEA) efforts and programming.
- Other special projects.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
- Pursuing a degree in various majors.
- Ability to apply sound judgment, creativity, and problem-solving skills to improve HR programs and operations.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Professional, highly organized, and detail-oriented.
- Ability to work well with a team.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office a plus, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
WORK CONDITIONS:
- Sitting for extended periods.
- Ability to operate a computer keyboard mouse and to handle other office equipment. Ability to occasionally oversee evening or weekend functions, deployments, or performances.
- Fast-paced and demanding environment.
- Ability to lift 30 pounds.
