The Monona Terrace Community and Convention Center is looking to hire multiple Attendants! The successful candidates for these positions perform varied public contact services, which may include customer service work, cash handling, staffing events and programs, routine labor and custodial work, light clerical duties, set up work, etc.
Guest Services Attendant (2 IMMEDIATE VACANCIES)
As a Guest Services Attendant, you will perform varied public contact services for events, meetings, conferences, conventions and other activities held at the Monona Terrace Community and Convention Center. You may be assigned to staff such functions as coat check, public information desk, badge checker, service desk and other related event services. This position works with other Monona Terrace staff to ensure customer needs are being met. The work includes performing routine cash handling and light administrative duties such as preparing materials for mailing, making copies, or delivering messages. You will perform activities either independently or as part of a team. The Guest Services Attendant works under the general supervision of the Monona Terrace Assistant Operations Managers.
Gift Shop Sales Clerk
The Gift Shop Sale Clerk has extensive contact with the general public, emphasizing customer service and retail sales, within the Monona Terrace Gift Shop. The position works with other Monona Terrace staff to ensure customer needs are being met. Duties are performed either independently or as part of a team. The Sales Clerk works under the general supervision of the Monona Terrace Gift Shop Manager.
Hours: Hours may vary. 0 – 20 hours per week, depending on demand with occasional evening and weekend hours.
The hourly wage consists of a base wage of $16.97 per hour plus $2.50 per hour bonus.
THIS RECRUITMENT MAY BE USED TO FILL VACANCIES THAT OCCUR IN THE ATTENDANT CLASSIFICATION IN OTHER DEPARTMENTS THAT MAY ARISE OVER THE NEXT SIX (6) MONTHS.

Customer Service
- Interact tactfully and courteously with patrons, clients and other users of Monona Terrace.
- Enforce entrance/attendance/building use policies and procedures in a customer service oriented way.
- Deal effectively with complaints and difficult customers.
- Provide exceptional customer service.
- Answer informational questions in an accurate and tactful manner.
- Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
- Accurately and courteously explain entrance/attendance/building use policies and procedures.
- Answer all customer questions and concerns in a helpful and effective manner.
- Use the phone system, and radios to communicate requests and ask questions.
- Perform routine cash handling.
- Perform light administrative duties such as preparing materials for mailing, making copies, and delivering messages.
- Find and handout maps, pamphlets, and event package materials.
- Use a computer to access Event Management Software and the e-mail system.
- Perform related work as required.
Gift Shop Sales Clerk
Assist with Store Sales and Operations
- Conduct sales of merchandise to the general public, clients and visitors involving retail financial transactions (cash, checks and/or credit cards).
- Solicit and conduct sales of merchandise to wholesale customers and conventions.
- Help maintain and reconcile inventory, cash, and sales receipts.
- Assist with website and phone order fulfillment. Help customers as needed.
- Assist with customer account database (email list).
- Check in new inventory
- Assist with annual inventory and complete monthly spot checks in accordance with standard procedures.
- Prepare routine reports as required.
Maintain Store Appearance
- Dust, clean, and straighten merchandise, fixtures, shelves, and floors.
- Stock merchandise on the shelves and build effective merchandise display.
- Perform related work as required.
