About the Role
As an Aircraft Integration Engineer at magniX, you will be joining a small and versatile team of aircraft integration engineers to work on the integration of the magniX powertrains onto various aircraft platforms. You will become familiar with the design, operation, and control of electric engines to work on a diverse range of systems such as mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and software, and you will own the development of our product throughout its lifecycle.
Primary Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities could include:
- Coordinate successful integration of magniX products and associated systems onto the NASA Electrified Powertrain Flight Demonstrator (EPFD), and other customer aircraft.
- Support the development of magniX products and ensure they are designed in the best interest of the customer and end-user.
- Lead Integration Design Projects of various disciplines including mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and/or software. This requires you to:
- Develop and manage system requirements, validation and verification methods, and test cases.
- Design system architectures.
- Conduct studies for powertrain sizing and performance modeling.
- Monitor project progress and ensure timeliness.
- Interface with other magniX teams and external parties for system design, component selection, sourcing, and purchasing.
- Identify and mitigate integration risks and issues, and implement design solutions.
- Generate Technical documentation such as Interface Control Documents, System Description Documents, and System Architectures
- Integration of the Propeller Systems, or the integration of Cockpit Indication and Alert Systems.
- Oversee and support ground and flight testing at various sites.
- Prepare and deliver presentations at Design Reviews.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, or other Engineering discipline.
- 4-9 years of experience in aerospace life cycle development.
- Experience with aerospace retrofits of aerospace components including engines, avionics, software, electrical components, propellers, pumps, controls, and other systems using CAD and/or FEA.
- Experience or familiarity with FAR 23, 25, 27, 29, 33, and/or 35.
- Experience with RTCA DO-160, DO-178, and/or DO-254.
- Experience with Systems Engineering (ARP4754) including developing, validating, and verifying system requirements.
- Familiarity with FHAs, SSAs and other system safety assessments (AC 23.1309 or AC25.1309).
- Experience with Test Planning, Oversight, and Post-Analysis.
- Open-minded, and willing and able to discuss difficult issues with professionalism in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) skills.
- Must be willing to travel to suppliers, testing sites, both nationally and internationally.

Location
- Applicants must be willing and able to commute to magniX's location in Everett, Washington.
- Travel to Moses Lake, Washington will be required as the NASA EPFD and certification programs progress.

This position's approximate base salary range is $120,000.00 - $155,000.00 per year, depending on experience and level of education.
This position must meet export control compliance requirements. To meet export control compliance requirements, a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.15 is required. Under §120.15, a “U.S. Person” includes U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, refugees, or asylees. As this position requires access to export-controlled data, an appropriate export authorization by the U.S. Government may be required prior to such access.
