Status: Non-Exempt, FT

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work or related discipline. A minimum of two years of relevant social work experience and two years of supervisory experience may be substituted for degree requirements.
  • Experience working with homeless populations.
  • Ability to communicate and work effectively with a diverse group of residents, staff, and community partners.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Software (Word, Excel, etc.)
  • Multi-tasking, self-starter, with demonstrated initiative and drive, requiring little or no supervision
  • Ability to assist in leading a team of employees and work in a team setting with other professionals.
  • Knowledge of implementing workplace safety training programs for staff and clients
  • Must have excellent interpersonal, telephone, and communication skills, both oral and written
  • Demonstrated ability to command respect and promote adherence to policy and the core vision of Integrity, Unity & Excellence
  • Must have a valid Driver's License and a clean driving record. Mileage reimbursement will be provided, and company vehicles will be available.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supervising and overseeing the Shelter staff & Security Personnel to ensure guest program compliance and continuity of services.
  • Assist in implementing and enforcing all policies as established by The Salvation Army
  • Responsible for Shelter staff training on best practices and new protocols.
  • Maintain compliance with all State, Federal, and local ordinances regarding permits, codes, etc.
  • Responsible for completing Performance Evaluations for all Shelter staff.
  • Assist Homeless Services Coordinator with grant monitoring.
  • Create and maintain Excel spreadsheets for tracking Shelter donations.
  • Oversee volunteer activity and maintain accurate records in conjunction with the Volunteer Management team.
  • Learn and maintain knowledge of community resources and social service agencies.
  • Maintain client databases and referrals for services and generate reports.
  • Respond to daily/nightly shift communication promptly.
  • Other duties and special projects as assigned.
  • Assist with identifying building maintenance needs and coordinating with the maintenance team to resolve identified issues.
  • Order weekly supplies for the proper running of the shelter.
  • Complete timekeeping duties, including the accurate documentation of grant time sheets for Shelter staff

This position has access to confidential and private information. Confidentiality and privacy must be observed. This position is subject to grant funding; however, if the funding ends, the position may be eliminated

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, stand, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and reach with hands and arms continuously. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 20 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus. The employee must have the ability to operate a telephone, desktop, or laptop computer, as well as the ability to access and produce information from a computer, and to understand written information.
