Job Summary:

The Commercial Credit Analyst II will assist and support the Commercial Banking team by compiling and analyzing financial statements, business plans, credit reports and other relevant information of various business entities and individuals to determine the degree of risk involved in requested or existing extensions of credit of increasing complexity. The position will prepare clear and concise reports using a variety of analytical tools for use in decision-making by Lending Officers, Bank Management, Loan Committees and the Board of Directors. The position will be responsible for providing the highest level of Customer Service and will adhere to the Bank’s Core Values and Service Standards.

Essential Functions:

  • Independently analyze credit data and financial statements to determine the degree of risk involved in extending credit or lending money.
  • Strong accounting experience utilizing critical thinking and analysis of detailed financial documentation.
  • Write reports utilizing analyzed data and finding to describe a commercial customer’s credit risk.
  • Prepare reports that assess the degree of risk involved in extending credit or lending money.
  • Evaluate customer records and loan structures and risk ratings based on earnings, balance sheet strength, payment history, management quality, guarantor strength and quality of collateral.
  • Complete more complex Loan Presentations, Annual Reviews, Status Reports, and Modifications of Loan Terms, including credit analyses and risk rating recommendations for submission to appropriate authority for approval.
  • Understand and interpret Bank Regulations and Bank Policies to aid in compliance with and/or identification of exceptions.

Essential Functions (cont.):

  • Assists in generating Reports to be used by Management, Senior Management and the Board of Directors.
  • Assists in preparing and assembling Loan Committee and Board Committee Packages.
  • Documents Loan Committee Meeting Minutes, as needed

Skills, Experience, and Training Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (four-year college or university) preferably with concentration in Accounting, Economics, Finance or Business Administration.
  • Commercial Banking Certificate Courses in areas of Cash Flow Analysis, Financial Statement Analysis, Commercial Loan Structuring and/or Appraisal & Evaluation Development & Review offered through Risk Management Association, Center for Financial Training, American Bankers Association, and New England School of Banking are preferred.
  • One year of commercial credit experience desired.
  • Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team.
  • Be punctual for scheduled work and use time appropriately.
  • Perform duties in a conscientious, cooperative manner.
  • Perform required amount of work in a timely fashion with a minimum of errors.
  • Be neat and maintain a professional appearance.
  • Comply with all Bank policies and procedures, including BSA and Information Security policies.
  • Maintain confidentiality and protect the Bank by keeping information concerning Bank operations and customer information confidential.
  • Able to consistently treat others with respect; keeps commitments; inspires the trust of others; works ethically and with integrity; upholds organizational values; accepts responsibility for own actions.
  • Strong commitment to achieving personal and team growth and success through an understanding and commitment to the Bank's sales culture goals.
  • Must have proven communication and interpersonal skills.
  • General knowledge of accounting and ability to read and understand financial statements.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in MSWord, PowerPoint, and Excel; ability to learn Bank technology.
  • Strong internal and external customer focus.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

  • Physical surroundings are pleasant and comfortable.
  • Minimal physical effort required. Stand/Sit Workstation with freedom of movement on a regular basis.
  • Handling of light materials and supplies (up to 20 pounds).
