What are the responsibilities and job description for the Dental Assistant position at Maine Oral Surgery and Dental Implant Center?
Responsibilities:
- Assist the dentist during dental procedures
-Assist in sedations and help manage airway
- Prepare and sterilize dental instruments and equipment
- Take and develop dental x-rays
- Perform medical documentation and maintain accurate patient records
- Conduct patient assessments and obtain medical history
- Provide patient education on oral hygiene and post-operative care
- Perform dental laboratory procedures, including pouring and trimming models
- Assist with dental CAD/CAM technology and digital impressions
- Utilize electronic health record systems such as WINOMS for medical coding and record keeping
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; completion of a dental assisting program preferred but not necessary.
- X-ray certification prefered
- Knowledge of dental terminology, procedures, and instruments
- Strong communication skills and ability to work well with patients of all ages, including pediatrics
- Proficiency in using dental software and electronic health record systems- we can teach
