Schedule: Monday - Friday (Days)
Reports to the Manager, Social Development. Responsible for planning, coordinating, developing and implementing a professional personal and group counseling program for assigned students, in compliance with government and management directives.
Duties include, but not limited to:
- Coordinate with dorm staff and other program activities to support student development through effective planning, staff training, meetings and evaluation; refer students to other program areas as appropriate
- Review background files, conduct interviews and tests and necessary to analyze and make recommendations for students
- Initiate and maintain student files
- Provide direct aid to students with personal needs or issues, sickness, injury, family issues, emergency leaves and AWOL retrieval
- Provide continuous educational, career training, personal and social adjustment counseling on an individual and group basis; recommend program modifications
- Conduct continuous interpretation and evaluation of progress in student's specific career development program
- Serve as chairperson of evaluation panels. Participate in the other center programs such as career preparation & diversity
- Prepare and update students' personal career development plan (PCDC) and CIS case notes on a timely basis
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree, including 15 semester hours of instruction in social services related instruction required and one year experience in counseling or related field. Excellent written and verbal communications skills and computer proficiency required. Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
